If you are an online poker player you probably already know what rakeback is. Many casual, or less informed, players may have heard of it but are still asking the question “What is rakeback?” You must first understand what the rake is. The rake is how online poker sites make their money. When playing cash game the house takes a percentage of each hand for itself, this is how they make their money. It varies from site to site, but it is usually around 5% of the pot.

The poker sites track how much each player pays per month, and if the player signed up through an affiliate (someone who advertises the site) that affiliate is paid a percentage for brining the player to the site.

These affiliates, looking to gain an edge on their competition, came up with the idea to give a large percentage of that money back to players. That is called rakeback. This encourages players to sign up and play through the affiliate instead of going directly to the site or another affiliate.

Therefore don’t run a poker bot without supervision on auto-play. So while a bot can make you good money, it requires still poker skills to know how to use it and when to shift gears during a poker game. Some players also prefer to use bots for bonus hunting where they for example play games where they use rakeback offers or casino bonuses offered for games such as Black Jack.

A pokertracker is a great tool that when used to its full potential and will give you an great advantage against your opponents. In its basic form, a poker tracker compiles your poker hand history and allows you to view important stats such as win rate, return on investment in certain positions, and your average profit/loss for each particular hand. This is incredibly helpful to the poker player looking at improving his overall game. While we could simply stop here as a good enough reason to use a poker tracker, poker trackers still offer more to its users.
